The services Energy Matters provide include:
Licensed Building Energy Rating Certification
BER certificates are now required by law and can only be provided by a licensed assessor. Since becoming the first trained assessors in Ireland, Energy Matters have developed a highly streamlined and quality controlled process to assist you in getting your BER certificate as efficiently and easily as possible. As the market leader, we have the distinction of designing, testing and certifying the first A-rated houses in Ireland. Our quality commitment to our customers is supported by the fact that Energy Matters was one of the first company's in Ireland to pass a Sustainable Energy Ireland audit of the BER Certficates we generated.
Energy Matters are registered to provide BER certificates for both new and existing domestic buildings, and new and existing non-domestic buildings, until the 31st December 2009.
A provisional BER rating, which lasts for two years from the date of issue, must be provided by the builder to the purchaser when the building is being sold off plans. A Final BER certificate must be provided to the buyer on sale or rental of the buildinging. This label lasts for 10 years from the date of issue. In the case of one off owner-occupier new dwellings a certificate must be secured before the new dwelling is occupied.
Specialised Test Services
Energy Matters offers a range of specialised test services such as thermal imaging and structural air-tightness testing to help assess and pinpoint actual fabric and ventilative heat losses in the building.
Thermal Imaging
Thermal Imaging allows the pattern of heat losses from a buildings surface to be visualised and quantified. The non-invasive assessment identifies areas of poor insulation, draughts or other issues in your building fabric. It can also be used to check underfloor heating systems or to detect leaks. Energy Matters have invested heavily in market leading thermal imaging equipment and have a range of endoscopes and inspection meters to physically inspect any issues identifed.
Structural Air-Tightness Testing
Air permeability testing measures the amount of uncontrolled draughts through cracks in the building fabric. These draughts contribute to heat loss from the building. Energy Matters has completed a British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing accredited training course to perform airtightness testing. Sustainable Energy Ireland appointed us to their National Panel of Experts for Air Permeability Testing in 2007 to conduct testing on their behalf, as a result of our depth in experience in this area. We test both domestic and large non-domestic buildings and provide detailed advice on how to improve the airtightness of your building. to improve the airtightness of your building.
Design and Feasibility for Energy Efficiency
Energy Matters can develop and supply an all encompassing specification to achieve a target energy rating for the proposed dwelling. This includes a complete detailed specification of all elements of the building fabric including windows and doors, detailing for thermal bridging and air tightness, detailed specification of heating systems, including renewable options, and controls, specification of ventilation and lighting systems, as necessary. We are also the first company in Ireland to offer ratings for non-domestic buildings.
Preventative Maintenance
Preventative Maintenance Thermography can be used for both electrical and mechanical equipment. It is fast becming an insurance requirement for industry. By performing preventative maintenance on equipment, downtime will be reduced and it will also result in more efficient running of equipment. Typical equipment examined includes transformers, motors, pump-houses and steam traps. Areas showing excessive heating can be identified in advance of failure enabling effective maintenance action and avoiding any unneccessary downtime. Our range of power analysis meters can be used to further assess electrical issues identified.
Grant Application and Project Coordination
Avail of the various Grant Schemes for energy efficient construction and retrofit. Energy Matters will advise on all available grants, we will compile and submit the applications and act as the mandatory "Project Coordinator", as required by some of the schemes.
Training and Consultancy Services
Energy Matters offer a range of training packages ranging from general energy efficiency information sessions to detailed technical training for your staff. We have a proven track record in generating training material for Sustainable Energy Ireland and private training providers.
Energy Matters performs energy surveys and audits on existing buildings ranging from 1-off houses to large non-domestic buildings, to identify how much energy your property consumes and where savings can be made. Our team of engineers will use a range of monitoring technologies and analysis techniques to develop a detailed, practical and cost effective solution to optimise the energy performance of the building. The ultimate objective is generating significant reductions in your buildings energy bills. As part of Energy Mattiers involvement in the Homes Energy Pilot scheme, we are the first assessors in Ireland traing to rate existing houses.
